The Way Fake Pictures of Maduro Emerged Rapidly
The first fake synthetic picture seemingly displaying him being escorted off a aircraft circulated shortly after. The picture was absent from any official American sources; it was instead published on X by an profile describing itself as an “AI video art enthusiast”.

Further AI-generated visuals were disseminated in the following hours, purporting to present different views of the leader in custody. Visible logos on these pictures show they originated from an Instagram profile called ultravfx.
SynthID indicates all of these pictures were likewise generated or edited Google AI.
Real Photo Released but Fabrications Persisted
Donald Trump shared the genuine photograph of Nicolás Maduro handcuffed aboard the US Navy ship on Saturday morning. But even after the authentic image was made public, AI-generated pictures kept circulating but were altered to incorporate the gray sweatsuit worn by Maduro.
